I am an Equine Artist and an Associate Member of the Society of Equestrian Artists. I’m also a qualified tutor and hold a City and Guilds level 4 PTLLS teaching qualification. My interests in art and design were established in childhood. My father’s profession as an architect and my mother’s talent for oil painting were major influences for me. After leaving school, I studied window display and art history, and some graphic design. I qualified as a Window Dresser and continued to paint as a hobby, painting people, still life and animals for many years until it eventually became my career. Shaun Burgess lives in Ipswich, Suffolk, England with his wife and three children. He is a full-time self-taught artist and works from a studio at the bottom of his garden. Shaun works in oils where his natural tendency towards realism and order is offset with an urge to create contradiction. To do this he often uses abstract marks and colour, disrupting the image to add interest and movement. He takes inspiration from ‘disrupted realism’ or ‘abstract realism’ enjoying the form, interest and movement the style offers him.
